Is it time that insurance companies correct this fraud?

Probably. Next question please…
Back in 2006, I along with my cousin, aunt and uncles, were visiting Allentown/Bethlehem for my cousin’s freshmen year at Lehi University. Anyway, one night watching local news from Philadelphia and there was a scam where people in New York 5 boroughs were using bogus address from the Lehi Valley to save money on auto insurance. THE Commonwealth of Penn and State of New York were jointly investigating this matter. Keep in mind, some people live in the city during the week and head to their second home in PA. The insurance companies can only do so much; it is up to the states to do a major crackdown. Yes, people who live in the 5 boroughs using a PA address is committing insurance fraud.
And I live in PA and see a lot of NY plates, doesn’t mean everyone is committing insurance fraud.
unfortunately this is a VERY difficult thing to enforce. Its also a very difficult thing to prove. Actually you can have a “garaging address” in NY and still have a policy in PA and its totally legal. Some of the companies would not allow this but there are plenty that will. Your best bet…. ignore it, because it really has no effect on your personal situation besides the nuisance of knowing someone is getting over on the company.
